The polar bear is my favorite animal to make, because it reminds me of my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and because it was the very first Alaskan animal I was inspired to create.

To create my polar bear scenes, I sometimes paint the background in a night scene by the ocean.  At other times I use cool blues to depict how the cold north looks during the day where polar bears live. Polar bears are a protected species, so I am not able to use polar bear hide.  I sculptured my polar bear out of a piece of Dall sheep pelt, because it looks similar to polar bear fur.  The snow is also Dall sheep fur.
