Alaskan Bull Moose

This Alaskan bull moose is one of my favorite pieces of art to create because it reminds me of Wasilla, Alaska where we lived for 7 years and where I was inspired to create my art. There were many moose in the area and they often walked through our property.  I was home-schooling our two young daughters at the time, and sometimes part of their school work was to help Mom get her fur-sculptured art ready to display at the Anchorage Fur Rendezvous, the Alaska State Fair or Golden Days in Fairbanks.

I painted this background from memory of a scene near Wasilla.  The bull moose was made from a piece of moose pelt.  The antlers were made from a piece of caribou and the grass is elk fur from Kodiak Island.

The artwork was placed in a deep 16" x 20" shadowbox frame, covered with glass for protection.  The peace and serenity of this scene is sure to bring you a lifetime of enjoyment.
