About Me
My name is Peggy Cloninger. I was inspired to create a new form of art in 1981, when I was trying to think of a very special gift to make for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. We moved to Alaska in 1979. My husband worked at Providence Hospital in Anchorage and I stayed home to home-school our two young daughters. We didn't have a lot of money, but we did have several animal pelts in the house from my husband's successful hunts. My grandparents loved animals and they loved Alaska, so I decided to make them a picture of a polar bear out of one of the animal pelts. It turned out better than I hoped and my career as an artist began. I call it "Fur-Sculptured Art" because I "sculpture" the animals out of wild animal pelts.
Each picture is one-of-a-kind, unique, and beautiful; and will bring you a lifetime of enjoyment. My art has been displayed at the Anchorage International Airport, Thompson's Gift Shop in Soldotna, the "old" Alaska Wild Berry Shop in Homer, Alaska, and Stephan's Fine Art Gallery in Anchorage, Alaska. Currently my art is being exhibited at the Seldovia Village Tribe Museum Gift Shop in Seldovia, Alaska during the summer and in my art studio in Nampa, Idaho the rest of the year. I also do commission pieces if someone has a special animal they would like made into a piece of art.
